Throne Speech 2020
Posted: October 2nd, 2020
The Early Childhood Pedagogy Network (ECPN) looks forward to working with the Liberal government to honour their pledge to a sustainable national early learning and child care system. We hope that the government considers the role of the pedagogist, alongside well-trained and remunerated educators, as integral to a system that is responsive to the circumstances of 21st century Canadian children and their families. Read here to learn about the role of the pedagogist and how centres in British Columbia can host a pedagogist to work alongside them.
Scholar Strike Canada
Posted: Sept. 10th, 2020
The ECPN stands in solidarity with Scholar Strike Canada, in the call to halt all teaching and administrative duties over the period of September 9 and 10, 2020 to participate in this labour action, by halting our own scheduled gatherings over the past two days. We acknowledge with gratitude, Scholar Strike Canada's mobilization of Black and Indigenous scholars' labour and expertise to provide a profound array of publicly available teach-ins to remind Canadians, and indeed the rest of the world, that this is no time for business as usual. We urge our ECPN membership and allies to make time to watch and listen deeply to these teach-ins: https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/
Please make time to listen and reflect with us on what is required to put our declaration of solidarity into action by working pedagogically, getting involved, learning more, and engaging others in meaningful critical discussion about what abolition might look and feel like within our early childhood educational contexts and wider communities.
